Two Lidded Pots

Of the same form, each cylindrical straight-sided pot has a short, recessed foot ring and a slightly domed lid surmounted by a button knob, all decorated in polychrome enamels. The bodies are minutely painted with continuous landscapes depicting figures in shoreline settings – one includes an equestrian, a shepherd with his flock, and two men in a boat; the other shows two men in a boat, a wooden fence, and a stone fortress with a wide round tower. Each lid has two scenes – the former with pairs of travelers standing outside different towns, and the latter with men by harbors with ships in the background.
