Pair of Torchères

Standing on either side of a table or in the corners of a room, these stands, known as *torchères,*would have supported candelabra. The stands are elaborately carved and gilded, with scrolling acanthus leaves on their tripod feet, while feathers, tassels, and curling ribbons ornament the body.
