The oval vessel is molded in the form of a woven wicker basket with a trailing stem of flowers and leaves in relief centered along the front and back and with applied rope-twist handles at either end. It has a domed lid, similarly molded to resemble wicker, pierced with thirty-six holes and applied with an elaborate arrangement of flowers and leaves in high relief centered around a large ranunculus-like blossom. The flowers reference the purpose of the vessel – to contain a mixture of dried spices and flower petals whose scent would emanate through the perforated lid.
