Cup and Saucer (gobelet litron), 2nd size

Jewel-like ornamentation was popular during the late eighteenth century. It is seen here in the blue borders that are decorated with delicate gilding and small medallions painted to look like veined gemstones surrounded by pearls. The elegant pattern against the white is made up of floral garlands, acanthus-leaf swags, and scrolls laced around vases of flowers.
