Flask

Free-blown flask of translucent light blue glass was partially inflated into a mold with regular vertical ribs. The gather was then further inflated to full size to stretch the ribbing on the surface. The ribs were then spiralled by twisting. The vessel has a conical base with a fairly deep kick and a flat disk foot. It also has a flaring rim which was made by manipulation with tongs and pincers while the piece was hot. The band around the neck was formed with a trail of hot glass dribbled around the neck.. The vessel has been reconstructed from fragments and some small chips are missing from the body and rim.
